What if I am not home or do not answer the door when the Town Assessor visits my property? (2/19/2024

There are a few reasons why the Town Assessor will visit your property.  The first thing they will do when they arrive is try to make contact with a property owner.  If no one is home or no one answers the door, they will leave a yellow door hanger which asks you to contact the Assessing Office (603-664-0241 or assessing@barrington.nh.gov) to schedule an appointment for an interior inspection.  After leaving a door hanger, the Town Assessor may perform a visual inspection of the exterior of the property and take measurements to update the property record card.  The Town Assessor is responsible for maintaining assessed values on over 5,000 parcels and collecting all the data they can during any visit is the most efficient (and cost effective) way to do so.  If you would prefer that the Town Assessor not visit your property when you are not home, you may clearly mark your property 'No Trespassing'.
