Does the Town Assessor follow 'No Trespassing' Signs? (2/19/2024)

Yes.  It is important that the 'No Trespassing' signage is prominently displayed in order to ensure the Town Assessor can notice it.  In New Hampshire, RSA 635:4 describes the legal manner to post your property 'No Trespassing'.  If we do not see the signage and visit your property anyways, please let us know by contacting the Assessing Office (603-664-0241 or assessing@barrington.nh.gov).  We can make a note on your property record card.

There are a few reasons why the Town Assessor will visit your property and posting your property does not eliminate those reasons.  The Town Assessor will send a letter to schedule an inspection for properties that are posted 'No Trespassing'.  Please note, this practice is not used for all properties because it is costly and time consuming.
