Timber/Excavation Permits
Timber Tax: Form PA-7
Timber taxes are taxes that are collected on the timber that is cut from your property. You must file a Notice of Intent to Cut prior to your logger beginning work. Once the cutting is complete, a Report of Timber Cut is filed and a tax bill is issued based on the number of board feet cut times the specific rate for the type and quality within a range set by the State, times 10%. There are small amounts which are non-taxable that are used for personal use. Inquire at the Assessing Office for more information and to submit an Intent to Cut.
Pursuant to RSA 79:10, I(b), Timber Intents may be signed by the Select Board outside of a public meeting, but the signing must be properly noticed. Due to the notice requirements, Intents to Cut must be submitted to the Building/Assessing office no later than noon (12pm) on Wednesday to allow for proper noticing of electronic signatures and receipt the following week. Intents to Cut submitted after noon on Wednesday will not be sent for signature until either the following Thursday or the next Select Board meeting, whichever is earlier, and will be available the following week.
