Timber Tax: Form PA-7

Timber taxes are taxes that are collected on the timber that is cut from your property. You must file a Notice of Intent to Cut prior to your logger beginning work. Once the cutting is complete, a Report of Timber Cut is filed and a tax bill is issued based on the number of board feet cut times the specific rate for the type and quality within a range set by the State, times 10%. There are small amounts which are non-taxable that are used for personal use. Excavation Tax: Form PA-38

Excavation taxes are taxes that are collected on the volume of earth that is excavated from your property. You must file a Notice of Intent to Excavate prior to excavation of land. Once the job is complete, a Report of Excavated Material is completed and filed; a tax bill is issued based on the number of cubic yards excavated, times .02. There are small amounts that are non-taxable. Inquire at the Assessing Office for more information.
