Applying for Aid

In compliance with RSA 165:1, the Town of Barrington offers General Assistance to those exhibiting financial need, within certain limitations.

General Assistance may assist with basic living needs: shelter, heat, electric, medical needs, and the like. Eligibility is determined by a Standard of Need, which compares income and available liquid assets to allowable expenses. Applicants for General Assistance must provide proof of income and expenses for the last 30 days, proof of any assets held, proof of address, and anything which the applicant feels may affect their eligibility.

Applications for General Assistance are available at the Selectmen’s Office. Clients are seen during office hours by appointment only.
