Can the Town Assessor send letters before visiting my property? (2/19/2024)

Yes, but it is costly and time consuming, so we do not.  We agree that the best customer service would be to make contact with property owners (with a letter or otherwise) and schedule a time for the Town Assessor to visit their property.  The Town (through it's Select Board) must balance all services the Town provides with the cost to do so.  In support of the Town's commitment to provide efficient and cost-effective government services, we do not send letters to residents ahead of Town Assessor inspections.  Please keep in mind that you may post your property 'No Trespassing'.  If you would like to see this policy change (at a higher cost to taxpayers), please contact the Assessing Office (603-664-0241 or assessing@barrington.nh.gov).
