Does Barrington have a Park-and-Ride or Public Parking at Route 9/125?

Barrington Municipal ParkingYes!  On May 22, 1968, the Town signed an indefinite lease from the State of New Hampshire for "...State owned land lying in the southwest quadrant of the junction of routes 4 [now Route 9] and 125... for public parking purposes only."  The highlighted map (above) shows the area leased from the State for public parking.  The highlighted plan (below) shows the plan referenced in the lease.

There is a common misconception that Map 238, Lot 2 (across Route 9 from Barrington's leased parking area, highlighted in red below) is public parking.  In fact, that lot is privately owned and recently sold (February 2022).

1968 Lease PlanAt their June 13, 2022 meeting the Select Board discussed the parking area and began considering improvements such as signs, gravel, and vegetation control. Watch that conversation here: https://youtu.be/L_cWg26ltYM?t=2869. Chief Walker also shared that years ago NHDOT inadvertently installed Park-and-Ride signs at Map 238, Lot 2. This is likely the source of any misconception regarding the location of public parking in this area. The Select Board will continue their conversation at the July 11, 2022 meeting.
