Counselor in Training (CIT) Program
The Barrington Recreation Department is excited to
announce a new and improved Counselor in Training (CIT) Program to youth in Barrington, or surrounding towns, entering grades 7, 8, and 9 (under the age of 14)! This competitive program has limited space available. All youth must submit an application, and we suggest applying early!
Benefits to being a CIT!
If you are selected to be a CIT, you will benefit from the following:
- A reduced summer camp registration fee.
- Res: $800 for all 8 weeks
- Non-Res: $1000 for all 8 weeks
- FREE CPR/First Aid Course & Certification.
- FREE daily ice cream and Kona Ice on Fridays.
- FREE Lunch Fridays! (alternate between BBQ & pizza days).
- Experience you can put on a resume or job application when you are of age to apply for employment.
- Weekly educational/developmental blocks.
- Opportunities to plan and lead activities.
- Sign up for weekly field trips at an extra cost and first come, first serve basis.
- One Day pre-camp CIT training.
CIT Application Process
To become a CIT at the BRD Summer Camp, youth must submit a completed CIT application by the application deadline, including a short essay about "what being a role model and leader means to you", and complete a formal interview. Once all applicants have completed the interview, a selection process will take place. There is limited space available and spots will be offered on a rolling basis!
Applications are submitted online at barringtonnh.myrec.com beginning February 6, 2024!
Application Deadline: April 16, 2024, or when program is full
Camp Hours: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm | Monday - Friday
Pre Camp Hours: 7:00 - 9:00 am (CIT's are allowed to attend at no additional fee)
Post Camp Hours: 4:00 - 5:30 pm (CIT's are allowed to attend at no additional fee)
