Who oversees the voting machines?

The Town Clerk manages the AccuVote machines. Election programming for the machines is done by LHS Associates of Salem, NH and verified by local officials prior to each election. 

How are the voting machines secured?

The AccuVote machines are not connected to the internet. The machine has security wires, fasteners, and tape that ensure there is no tampering. When the devices are installed or removed three people are required to sign as witnesses in a log. The New Hampshire Department of Justice shared additional information about the machines, their history, and their security, which some may find helpful.

How are the machines tested for accuracy?

Each machine is tested with two memory cards and validated with a hand count comparing to the AccuVote machine tapes prior to each election. The public is welcome to view the testing as well as to observe at the election.
