The Barrington Town Offices are committed to remaining open to continue meeting the needs of the Barrington community. In order to protect the health of visitors and staff while remaining mindful of the risks associated with Covid-19 (Novel Coronavirus), we are encouraging all adhere to CDC-recommended precautions.

  • WASH your hands frequently
  • AVOID close contact with others/Practice social distancing
  • STAY HOME, especially if you are sick, elderly, or have health complications
  • COVER your sneezes and/or coughs
  • CLEAN and disinfect surfaces regularly

In order to encourage social distancing at the Barrington Town Hall and throughout Town buildings, each department has provided information on their status as well as how to access services remotely. Each Town facility is also taking extra cleaning precautions.

POLICE DEPARTMENT - (603) 664-7679 (non-emergency, for emergencies dial 911)

The Barrington Police Department will remain open for normal business hours and will continue to respond to calls 24/7. The Department has asked residents to refrain from visiting the Police Station and instead call the Dispatch line (603) 664-7679 to report any non-emergency calls, or email to request reports, etc. Please take a moment to review THIS ADDITIONAL INFORMATION shared by Chief George Joy.

FIRE/EMS - (603) 664-2241 (non-emergency, for emergencies dial 911)

Barrington Fire and EMS will remain open for normal business hours and will continue to respond to calls. Please call the non-emergency number with any non-emergency questions or concerns, and refrain from visiting the Fire Department.

ASSESSING - (603) 664-0184

Interior inspections will be by appointment only, by calling (603) 664-0184. When visited by an assessor, it is your choice to speak with them, however, they are primarily only conducting exterior measurements, taking photos, and information gathering.

Exemption application paperwork can be left in the outdoor dropbox or brought in to the Assessing department.

The Barrington Food Pantry is currently open normal hours.

Barrington Highway is closed to the public. Please call the office with any questions or concerns rather than stopping by.

LIBRARY - (603) 664-9715

The Barrington Library is OPEN for limited patron access, and are currently allowing 6 people into the Library at a time. Curbside pickup is available, at the  Pickup Pagoda! Please click here for detailed information as the information provided below is an overview.

Hours for indoor & curbside access are:
Monday, & Friday: 10am-6pm
Tuesday, Thursday: 10am-7pm
Wednesday: 10am-8pm
Saturday: 10am-3pm
There is a limit of 6 patrons in the Library at a time. Masks are required to enter the building and must be properly worn during your visit. Disposable masks will be available if you don’t have one. Hand sanitizer must be used upon entering the Library and will be available throughout the Library. When you arrive please ring the doorbell so we know you are here!
Two computers will be available for public use and an appointment is needed. Computer use is available during the same hours as curbside pickup, appointments slots are scheduled on the hour and each appointment 45 minutes and are scheduled on the hour..
When you arrive at the library for curbside pickup, give us a call (603-664-9715) and let us know you are here. If you unable to call, just give us a friendly beep or two so we can come out and get your name.

All returns must be placed in the outdoor drop box. PLEASE NOTE: ITEMS WILL NOT BE CHECKED IN UNTIL THEY HAVE GONE THROUGH THE QUARANTINE PROCESS. Do not be alarmed if you see items on your card after you've returned them - items must be in quarantine for at least 24 hours.

Programming has begun  to resume, following State protocols. Please visit the Recreation Department page for the most up-to-date information. The playground at the Recreation Facility has opened as of June 16th, 2020, to be used at your own risk Please view this Playground Risk Notice as well as this Do's and Don'ts from the CDC regarding visiting playgrounds. Also available is this notice regarding Summer Soccer for an update specific to that program.

Barrington Elementary and Middle schools are currently open. 

The School District will be providing all pre-k through 12th grade students in the district with breakfast and lunch. Please visit the School District website on Covid-19 for instructions on how to order, as well as additional information. Information on End 68 Hours of Hunger is also available.

Please call (603) 664-5476 with questions or to request an appointment by phone, and utilize the Town Clerk Online Portal as much as possible.

The following are accesible online, can be mailed to the Town Clerk's office with payment by check, or left in the drop box in the lobby:

  • Dog license renewals
  • Vital records (with a copy of the applicant's driver's license or state-issued photo ID) for the following dates:
    • Birth records from 1935 to the present (except 1949 and 1950)
    • Death records from 1965 to the present
    • Marriage records from 1960 to the present
    • Divorce records from 1979 to the present


Transfer Station Service Update

We need to work together, and we are urging you to take advantage of the other days that we are open and limit your visits. We are asking residents to please do the following:

  • If you are sick, please do not come to the Transfer Station.
  • Practice social distancing

-If there are people in front of the bulk container, please wait in your car till they are done.

-If there are people in line at the Recycling Compactor please leave at least six feet in between the person in front of you.

  • Conduct all transactions at the Transfer Station window. 
  • Abide by the posted signs of Employees only.
  • Practice good hygiene
  • Cover coughs and sneezes
  • Conduct your business and limit personal contact as much as possible.
