Youth Athletics

Program Description

Youth BasketballThe Basketball program provides youth in grades Pre-K to 8th the opportunity to learn the sport of basketball. PreK-2nd grade participants will be taught fundamentals of the game through skills session composed of fun drills and brief scrimmages. 3rd-8th grade participants participate in the Southeast NH Recreational Travel Basketball League, where teams will practice and play games against opponents in the league. Emphasis is placed upon recreation philosophies including teamwork and sportsmanship at all levels. 
Youth LacrosseThis program is a fast and fun introduction to lacrosse for youth in grades 1-6. Players will learn the fundamentals and rules of the game through exciting drills and games. Come try the fastest growing sport in the world!
Floor HockeyYouth in 1st-6th grade can stay active as the fall weather shifts with this fast-paced program. Participants will meet once a week to grab the sticks and drop the puck, in this game-only-style program.
Granite State Track & Field

Granite State Track & Field provides a quality outlet where youth are introduced to basic track and field events involving as running, jumping, and throwing. Participants will practice and build their skills before participating in two regional meets and a final state meet alongside other recreation organizations. All meets are strictly recreational and promote healthy physical fitness and having fun.

Youth Summer Soccer

The Summer Soccer program is designed for youth from 4-years-old through 6th grade. We provide Barrington’s youth with the opportunity to learn and improve upon fundamental skills, build relationships and play the game in an exciting, recreational environment. The 7-week program will see teams meet once per week for a practice followed by a brief game. 

Youth Fall Soccer

The Fall Soccer League provides youth from 4-years-old through 6th grade the opportunity to play soccer in an exciting, recreational environment. Players in grades 1-6 will participate in the Southeast NH Recreational Soccer League alongside other recreation programs in the area. Players will learn and build upon game fundamentals, improve skills, while emphasizing teamwork and sportsmanship through both practices and games. No travel required for Pre-K/Kindergarten level.

Youth Flag Football

The Flag Football program gives youth in 1st-8th grade the opportunity to learn the game of football in a non-contact atmosphere. Players will be tough game fundamentals and learn the rules of the game while encouraging teamwork and sportsmanship. Teams participate in the new Rec Flag Football League alongside other local recreation departments in Nottingham, Deerfield, and Northwood. Teams will play a regular season followed by playoffs and championship game.

Intro to T-BallChildren in Pre K and Kindergarten can join us for Indoor T-Ball! This will be an introduction to T-ball to get participants interested in the sport. Players will learn basic skills through games and short drills. Parent assistance is required to help this program run smoothly.

Bilingual BopBilingual Bop is a creative movement activity designed for young children. 
Outdoor Investigators

Outdoor Investigators is a community-based, preschool science program.  Each week we will meet at a different conservation area in our town, ask questions, make observations, and use science tools!

Art in the ParkJoin us the fall for morning fun at the Barrington Community Playground. Pre-schoolers will have the chance to get creative and make a new arts & crafts project each week at the park!
TheatreNew to the department, we are offering a Theatre program for children ages 8-16. This is a 9-week program that will end with 2 performances of a show!

Rumpus Room

A parent-supervised, drop-in activity for children ages infant to 5 years old. This program is an unstructured playtime where your preschooler can run, jump, hop, roll, tumble and more in a safe environment.
Gunstock Ski & RideThe Gunstock Ski and Ride Program provides youth ages 8-19 (HS seniors) the opportunity to ski and snowboard at Gunstock Mountain, Gilford, NH. Participants will meet once per week for 4-weeks for lessons with a certified Gunstock instructor. All participants will receive a seasons pass, and multiple vouchers for discounted friend/family tickets. We hope to see you on the slopes!
Parents Night OutAttention Parents! Enjoy a nice night out or get some holiday shopping done while your kids are improving Martial Arts skills with Karate International and having fun with friends!
