About Community Power

Pending voter approval of the Barrington Energy Aggregation Plan in Town elections, Barrington Community Power is poised to launch in collaboration with the Community Power Coalition of NH (CPCNH) in Summer 2024. This organization will take over electricity purchasing negotiations and contracting from Eversource, which will remain the Town’s electricity distribution, billing, and maintenance supplier. This action is guaranteed to provide lower electric rates and expanded rate options at the outset, and is expected to sustain a cost advantage for town residents and businesses, as well as providing other services, over time. Next steps are securing voter approval of the aggregation plan in March 2024, and Select Board approval of the legal documents required to launch the program.

The Community Power Coalition of New Hampshire (CPCNH) is a non-profit, public organization formed to help NH communities launch community power programs, share administrative resources and participate in joint electric power purchase solicitations. More than 50 communities across New Hampshire have embraced this program as of the beginning of 2024, allowing their residents to reduce their costs and have greater choice in selection of energy mix to reduce environmental impacts.
