Public safety in Barrington is entrusted to the dedicated salaried and volunteer professionals of the Police, Fire, and Ambulance departments. In recognition of changing times, Barrington established the Office of Emergency Management to coordinate the activities of all Public Safety departments during critical events.

The Public Safety departments continue to explore new training methods to ensure the health and safety of the community. This training has been expanded to include handling protocols for anthrax and other bio-terrorism threats, establishing emergency procedures for a terrorism threat, and safety training for office personnel.
